How long can a domain name can be and are there any restrictions?

A domain name can have a maximum of 67 characters including the extension (TLD) (.com, .net, .org). A domain name can contain numbers 0 through 9, letters a through z or dashes (-). Domain names are case insensitive, i.e., myDomain.com and MyDomain.com are one and same. Domain name cannot start or end with a dash (-). Register your website now

Yes. What if the domain name I want to use is already taken?

You can choose an alternative domain name, or same name with different TLD/ extension, for example, if myDomain.com is not available, you can register myDomain.net if available, or wait until the current one expires (not recommended) or if you feel that you have a right to the unavailable domain name, you could follow the domain dispute policy and try to acquire that particular domain name.
